Welcome to August ...

Welcome to our AUGUST challenge using SLATE GREY with a splash of another colour.

This year we are continuing with using a base colour and allowing you to use any variation of that colour you might like to use - light, dark, colour ranges just so long as we can tell it IS the monthly colour. The only slight difference is this year we require you to do your layout using white cardstock as your base.

We also have a simple monthly criteria for you to follow.

You can use black, dark brown, grey or navy as your accent colour for journaling, titles etc and we will allow green if part of a floral pattern. We'd love to see you take inspiration from this board and incorporate items you see and inspire you. You may be inspired by the yarn or have a passion for the sea.  You may wish to focus on using the shapes from this board on your page - the rectangles from the flooring or the herringbone pattern of the tiles. You might like to document a room in your home using this colour or just like to create a swirly moody background using ink and/or paint. Please mention what inspired you on your entry.

Inspired by the slate bricks. I had a bit of a stencilling fail, but it kind of works with the piggie theme, I hope! Pop of colour added with paper clip and baker's twine.

Inspired by the ocean and added my splash of green.

Inspired by the yarn and added a splash of blue.

Slate grey with a touch of orange sunset, I was inspired by the slate tiles in the moodboard and the orange of the shoes.

I added a splash of orange. Inspired by the yarn and the flooring.

I was inspired by the yarn so this photo with the gorgeous knitted suit came to mind, and the splash of colour was blue, he does have beautiful blue eyes!

I added blue as my splash of colour and was inspired by the textures in the moodboard.

Jane Howden (Australia)

I was inspired by the shapes from the moodboard - the rectangles from the slate flooring, the herringbone patterns on the tiles and the swirls and lines in the ink and paint patterns.  I've added gold as my splash of colour.

In 2024 we will have one main prize each month selected by random draw.  If we have over 15 entries I will do an additional prize draw.

 This is open to all entrants so anyone could be a winner.

Plus there will be a special "Admin Choice" winner who will receive an invitation to guest with us next month.

All entries must be new for this challenge and the original work of the entrant. Please remember we are a layout only challenge - cards, OTP or pocket page entries (etc) are not eligible for prizes. Your entry must be submitted on a white cardstock background with the one extra colour added - small amounts of brown, navy or black may be used for contrast and we will allow green if part of a floral pattern. International entries are welcome.
