Welcome to July ...

Welcome to our JULY challenge using TAN or KRAFT on white with wood veneer.

This year we are continuing with using a base colour and allowing you to use any variation of that colour you might like to use - light, dark, colour ranges just so long as we can tell it IS the monthly colour. The only slight difference is this year we require you to do your layout using white cardstock as your base.

We also have a simple monthly criteria for you to follow.

You can use black, dark brown, grey or navy as your accent colour for journaling, titles etc and we will allow green if part of a floral pattern. We'd love to see you take inspiration from this board and incorporate items you see and inspire you.  You may be inspired by the cute animals or have a sweet tooth for ice cream and or toffee.  You may wish to focus on scrapping about your favourite hot drink during Winter or the carousel reminds you of a holiday destination.  You might like to use a lengthy title or use words on your page in another way.  Perhaps using wood grain or wooden embellishments is something you'd like to incorporate into your work. Please mention what inspired you on your entry.

CRITERIA - Please use wood veneer on your layout in some way

and now some totally amazing inspiration from our wonderful 2024 team in no particular order.

Amanda Moran (Australia)
Inspired by the drinks. Wood veneer hearts, ladies & chat bubble!

Karen Guy (Australia)
Inspired by the Bunny in the Mood board I found these Easter photos and used Wood veneer paper in strips and for the Title also used lots of Wood veneer embellishments!

Theresa Kamp (Australia)
I have used card stock stripped back to represent bark on a log and Kraft coloured pattern paper pieces. I was inspired by the wooden logs in the photo board as well as the quote in the middle square. My wooden veneers are the round wood circles and also the wooden log pieces.

Karen Brierley (Australia)
Inspired by the quote and added a text background to my page.

Tracey Beer (Australia)
Inspired by the wood.

Heather Bensley (Australia)

Victoria King (Australia)
This beautiful carousal is in Central Park, New York City

Jane Howden (Australia)
I was inspired by the wood and did another page for my New Zealand album featuring the Maori wood carving workshop I visited.

In 2024 we will have one main prize each month selected by random draw.  If we have over 15 entries I will do an additional prize draw.

This is open to all entrants so anyone could be a winner.

Plus there will be a special "Admin Choice" winner who will receive an invitation to guest with us next month.

To enter please visit our Facebook public group White with 1 challenges and put your entry directly into our monthly album under media.

A bit about me... I am a plain old Jane, really. 53, Mum to two amazing boys (well Men.. 29 and 24). Nainai to Two boys,7 and 5. With another due end of June. HAPPY days. Also Mum to 4 furbabies. Gus the Rottweiler. Storm the Staffy, Jaina and Beth the moggies. I live in Christchurch New Zealand.

I was introduced to this marvellous time and money wasting hobby 20 odd years ago by my BFF Sue. Totally by accident. I had popped round for a coffee and a chat and Sue and Katrina where elbow deep in paper. After asking what they where doing and watching, Sue asked if I wanted to try ... I WAS hooked. And have been dabbling ever since. I don't have a style. And I personally don't think I am any good. But it keeps me company.

You can catch me on YOUTUBE.

Or Instagram, @Traceyspages. And I am in many Facebook groups.

Thank you so much for joining us as a guest on White with 1 this month. It has been lovely having you with us.

There is still plenty of time to join in with our June ICE BLUE with stencil and ink challenge - entries close midnight on the last day of the month. We'd love to see your entry - perhaps you could guest design with us too.

Our April Guest ...

Please welcome our April guest designer, MITZI LUTTRULL (USA) with her wonderful take on our Black and White with vintage photo challenge this month.

My inspiration was the picture with the curvy lines. My old map has curved lines and the quote I used is written in an arc. The photo was taken sometime around 1927.

An avid paper crafter for 20 years, scrapbooking and card making are my favorites. Having served on three different design teams over the years, I appreciate the community they built. I have 10 grandchildren who are often the subjects of my pages. I hope to leave future generations an accounting of their ancestors. Since retirement from teaching, I’m very involved in my community, my church and various groups of friends, all of which provide for many photo ops. (Great scrapping material!!) Other ways I keep busy are playing golf, sewing, reading, playing guitar and violin, and walking my rescue dog, Daisy.

On this page I have layered several different patterned papers. I have fussy cut some and tore others to create an eclectic look.

This page features several of my favorite ways to scrap- its a double layout, I’ve used vellum to soften the vibrant background paper to make the pictures pop, and the paper itself mimics what can be seen in the photos (tulips.)

Thank you so much for joining us as a guest on White with 1 this month. It has been lovely having you with us.

There is still plenty of time to join in with our April Black and White with vintage photo challenge - entries close midnight on the last day of the month. We'd love to see your entry - perhaps you could guest design with us too.
