Our September guest ...

Please welcome our September guest designer, Kathy Price, with her delightful take on our BLACK and White moodboard (with washi) challenge this month.

I was inspired by the pencils first so I changed my photos using a pencil drawing app. The texture of the bed linen jumped out at me so I hand stitched and wove the black and white thread behind the photos. Washi incorporated the clocks and the splash of colour in bottom photo reflected the splash of light from bottom middle prompt. The Aztec designs and feel were followed through with the paper strips and washi behind the photos and across the waving. Finally the thin lettering inspired the thin font choice for the title.

Hi there, I have been an avid scrapbookers for 20 years, thanks to a very special friend who finally encouraged me into the illuminating world of paper design with photos to capture history as it happens in the everyday life of everyday people. I call my style eclectic, changing to suit my creative mood, design brief memos and call from the photos or events. I am a paper junkie and love the beauty that evolves with the cutting up and rearranging of this essential scrapbook element.

You can follow me on instagram @kathyloves2scrap as well as my blog - kathyscr.blogspot.com and my YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2b5YkXgkPelS885jjHv4fA

Thanks for taking the time to get to know a little about me and my work.

Here are two of my recent layouts that I love.

Thank you so much for taking the time to guest with us this month Kathy.  It's been a real pleasure.

There is still plenty of time to join in with our challenge this month - we'd love to see your take using black and white.

Welcome to September ...

Welcome to  SEPTEMBER and our BLACK with white Moodboard with USE THIS element of Washi.

USE THIS criteria -  Washi

This year we are continuing with using a base colour and allowing you to use any variation of that colour you might like to use - light, dark, colour ranges just so long as we can tell it IS the monthly colour.  Of course you MUST use a majority of white on your page - the easiest way to achieve this is to use a white cardstock background but that is up to you.

We are also introducing a simple monthly "Use this" criteria for you to include on your entry.

You can use black, dark brown, grey or navy as your accent colour for journaling, titles etc and we will allow green if part of a floral pattern.  We'd love to see you take inspiration from this board and incorporate items you see and inspire you - perhaps you like the patterns you see on this board, stripes, triangles or geometric prints and want to use them on your page. You might be drawn to the clocks or the little owl or like the idea of incorporating lots of numbers onto your layout. Please mention what inspired you on your entry.

and now some totally amazing inspiration from our wonderful 2023 team ...
(in no particular order)

Karen Brierley (Australia)
My eye was drawn to the decorative text element and stripes in the mood board. I used two patterned washi tapes.

Lisa Kynaston (Austalia)
Inspired by the patterns and squares of the grid. I don't use washi usually and only had one roll of Domino washi that amazingly matched the theme, so have used it here.
Tracey Beer (Australia)
Inspired by the pencils and the letters.

Heather Bensley (Australia)

Victoria King (Australia)

Amanda Moran (Australia)
I was drawn to the clocks & triangle pattern for my inspiration this month. My washi tape is subtle underneath the title cluster and photo and in the top and bottom corners.

Karen Guy (Australia)
I was inspired by the clocks, used Washi tape to boarder my layout and another washi tape to frame my photo and another washi tape to highlight the title!

Jane Howden (Australia)
My page was all about the washi using it as vertical stripes on my page with only a small amount of patterned paper cut into circles.  I have also taken the star from the moodboard to incorporate onto my page and also used a heritage black and white photo to continue this month's colour theme.

This year we will have one main prize each month selected by random draw.

This is open to all entrants so anyone could be a winner however should an international winner be selected I reserve the right to offer a store gift card in lieu of a physical prize.

Plus there will be a special "Admin Choice" winner who will receive an invitation to guest with us next month.

To enter please visit our Facebook public group White with 1 challenges and put your entry directly into our monthly album under media.

All entries must be new for this challenge and the original work of the entrant. Please remember we are a layout only challenge - cards, OTP or pocket page entries (etc) are not eligible for prizes. Please also remember you may ONLY combine your challenge with a sketch challenge. Your entry must be predominantly white with the one extra colour added - small amounts of brown, navy or black may be used for contrast and we will allow green if part of a floral pattern. International entries are welcome.

We'd love to see how you use our White with 1 colour combination this month. Please come and join in with us! You have until the end of the month to get your entry in.

Our August guest ...

Please welcome our August guest designer, Melissa Venturi, with her sweet take on our YELLOW moodboard (with stamping) challenge this month.

Thankyou for the opportunity to guest design for the August Monthly Challenge!! I was instantly drawn to the light bulbs with the flowers on the mood board!! When I saw it was yellow this month I knew the photo that I wanted to use and the light bulb die to go with it!! Also the circular shape of the glasses made me think of getting into my stash for some buttons!! The “Use This” is stamping which I did some faint yellow texture stamping behind my clusters and also the bigger flowers you can see. I am not a huge stamper but I really love the extra layer it gave to my clusters.

This photo is of my eldest son Soren, who is now 15!!

I hope this inspires you to have a go this month!!

Hi everyone, I work in admin at the Beaudesert Hospital, in the maternity unit at the moment and loving it! I love to create scrapbooking pages, cards and mini albums. When I scrapbook I like to keep my layouts quite flat. I have four children so I have plenty of photos for scrapbooking but I don’t have room for hundreds of albums (not until the kids leave home anyway!)

So pleased to have you guesting with us this month Melissa.

There is still plenty of time to join in with our challenge this month - we'd love to see your take using this gorgeous, bright and happy colour.

Welcome to August ...

 Welcome to our August moodboard.

Our colour this month is a tribute to Cancer Council Daffodil Day - Thursday, 31st August, 2023.  I don't think there would be many amongst us who haven't been touched by this insidious disease in some way so if you can, please pick up a pen or a teddy or something else from one of their many stalls or make a donation in person or on line.  Your contribution matters!

Daffodil Day is one of Australia’s best known and most popular fundraising events.
Each day more than 100 Australians will die of cancer. Daffodil Day raises funds for Cancer Council to continue its work in cancer research, providing patient support programs and prevention programs to all Australians. Daffodil Day helps grow hope for better treatments, hope for more survivors, hope for a cure.

To Cancer Council, the daffodil represents hope for a cancer-free future. You too can help in the fight against cancer by participating in Daffodil Day. Daffodil Day merchandise is on sale throughout August, and you can donate to Daffodil Day at any time.

Something a little exciting is also happening in August! We are doing a combined moodboard challenge with Soul Scrappers Challenges which means you do the one layout, upload here and over in the Soul Scrappers Challenges monthly moodboard album and have two chances to win!

Criteria for August - please use STAMPING somehow on your layout.

Please use our mood board to inspire you – you will need to use YELLOW (any variation of YELLOW you want to use) on a WHITE background plus take some inspiration from the moodboard, it could be a shape or pattern, theme or items contained within it. You might like a particular element or use of background. You can use black (or navy/dark brown or a little gold/silver) as an accent colour only. Please don’t forget to tell us what inspired you.

We welcome a new member to our team this month, Lisa Kynaston, and say a sad farewell to long time team member, Theresa Kamp, and hope that she can get back to her beloved scrapbooking very soon.

and now some totally amazing inspiration from our wonderful 2023 team ...
(in no particular order)

Lisa Kynaston (Austalia)
Yellow is one of my Favourite colours and I just had to use these photo's. I have used stamping in the Title and the heart is stamped and fussy cut. My inspiration was taken from the Circle shapes, flowers and the curtain framing but i tipped it on it's side.

Victoria King (Australia)
I was inspired by the circle of the disc and the flowers. I have stamped and embossed the big car and my flowers.

Amanda Moran (Australia)
My instant inspiration was the Van Gogh book ðŸ’› Just knew I had to scrap a photo from our Melbourne visit to Van Gogh Live! It was amazing ðŸ¤©
Stamped text in the background, lots of stars and even stamped my title (haven’t done that in a while)!
The quote in the photo says “I don’t know anything with certainty but seeing the stars makes me dream”🤩💛

Karen Brierley (Australia)
Inspired by the books - I used a reading theme and book page. Stamping: 2x stamped cameras.

Tracey Beer (Australia)

Karen Guy (Australia)
The Van Gogh was my instant inspiration, using this photo with my grandchildren enjoying the Van Gogh experience in Brisbane, I have stamped my background and stamped and moulded the handmade sunflowers!

Heather Bensley (Australia)
For this challenge I chose to use the sunglasses, the bike, circles and the flowers. I took inspiration from the Van Gogh painting Sunflowers. Then I used stamps on the background and I also stamped the flowers and then painted and fussy cut.

Jane Howden (Australia)
Not overly difficult to work out my inspiration this month. Loving the bike theme.

Our July guest ...

Please welcome our July guest designer, Gail (aka ionabunny), with her simply delightful take on our BROWN moodboard (with tags) challenge this month.

I used a Rubber Dance stencil in the background and Rubber Dance stamps for the owl and sentiments.  I made my title sentiment into a round tag and also included a kraft tag which I pierced and threaded with twine.  There are also a couple of diecut elements either side of the photo of me watching sunset over the fjord.

Hi, my name is Gail aka ionabunny.  I am British and trained as a scientist, but I moved to Norway in 2005 where I keep rabbits and chickens and grow my own vegetables. I also craft with paper and glass.  I found blogland in 2012 and have an active blog.  I help manage an international card exchange called the Card Chain Challenge and am also Design Team Manager for Lost Coast Designs stamps (USA) and Rubber Dance stamps (Germany).  I call my style simple, but seldom clean.  I enjoy mixed media and mixed techniques and trying anything new and mostly make cards, tags, ATC's etc.  Layouts are actually a bit out of my comfort zone, but I have been enjoying following White With 1 and occasionally playing along.  I was surprised and overjoyed when my May layout was picked as admin's choice.  Thanks so much for having me as a guest designer.  I hope you like my interpretation of brown and white with tags.

Welcome to July ...

Welcome to JULY and our BROWN Moodboard with USE THIS element of Tags.

USE THIS criteria -  Tags

You might like to incorporate string into your page, or just love the colour brown. Please mention what inspired you on your entry.

and now some totally amazing inspiration from our wonderful 2023 team ...
(in no particular order)

Karen Brierley (Australia)
I adore owls so this is the direction I took with my layout, and I added some leaves too. I made a simple tag from upcycled packaging.

Tracey Beer (Australia)
Inspired by the map, owl and twine.

Heather Bensley (Australia)

Victoria King (Australia)
I was inspired by the leaves.

Amanda Moran (Australia)
Lots of inspiration this month ðŸ¤Ž and a few tags too!! Words (in the book), coffee, twine and even the layout of the pictures on the wall inspired my tags layout. The timber patterned paper reminded me of the contents in a coffee cup.

Karen Guy (Australia)
The Buildings reminded me of my photos from Cinque Terre so that was my inspiration, buildings with lots of tag embellishments!

Theresa Kamp (Australia)
We wish Theresa well in her recovery from a broken arm and hope to see her back with us soon.

Jane Howden (Australia)
This month I decided to be inspired not only by a few items from the moodboard but the board itself to help create a blocked layout.  I knew I had a perfect wall of art photo to use as my theme and I have added my tag as a title with added twine and found some tiny owls for my page too.

This year we will have one main prize each month selected by random draw.

This is open to all entrants so anyone could be a winner however should an international winner be selected I reserve the right to offer a store gift card in lieu of a physical prize.
