Welcome to October ...

My goodness it's October and the countdown to the end of the year is now on in earnest.  I am sure many of us might be just a little horrified at the mass of Christmas decorations now appearing in our department stores - it's getting closer people!

This month we are doing something a little different - that is a combined challenge with Stick it Down.  We will be using their sketch and they will be using our colour - combine them both and you can enter not only our challenge here on White..with 1 but also their challenge on Stick it Down for double the chance of a win.

Stick it Down October single page layout - please interpret this as you will (flip it, rotate it etc)

and some totally amazing inspiration from our wonderful team ...

(in no particular order)

Jessica Toulmin (New Zealand)
I used a small polka dot stencil with a white medium to create a textured background. I backed both photos with a small border of white, then attached them to a pale grey patterned paper. I used the same patterned paper to create the cross on the page. I embellished with a grey camera, 1 inch vellum circles, small white hearts, and fussy cut butterflies.

Natsuko Suzuki (Japan)
I die-cut the gears and painted them with textured paste. I also did some mixed media with a stencil on the background. I thought this picture was perfect for the color, and I love how this turned out:)

I choose to go with a little touch of grey and use all the rest in black and white for a classy look.

Lisa Marie Watling (South Africa)
I mirrored the sketch.

Michelle Van Oudtshoorn (New Zealand)
I know a lovely lady who allowed me use this awesome photo of her grandson doing his routine for his show. I love this photo!

Lisa Johnston (Australia)
This colour was perfect to dig into my Cocoa Vanilla Boys Rule stash. My stenciling uses Dina Wakley Elephant Grey which photographed a little brown but it was Elephant Grey I had to use it. I flipped the sketch to suit my photos. I love the emphasis the teeny 2x2 photo gets with this sketch.

Tanya Heritage (Australia)

Louise Turner (Australia)
This photo is about 4 years old and I finally scrapped it! Selecting a photo is normally my biggest challenge for White ... with 1 each month. I go through my stash and find anything the coordinates with the colour and then decide on a photo. I like the monochrome feel to this one.
