Tanya Loves to Scrap

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN SCRAPPING AND WHAT FIRST GOT YOU STARTED?

I have been scrapbooking for a very long time. My daughter is nearly 19 and I did decorate the pages of her first album by cutting her photos into stars!!!!! Oh my goodness whatever was I thinking.

Thankfully I stopped for several years until a scrapbook shop opened next door to the indoor children’s play centre that we occasionally visited. I attended a few classes but still only scrapped occasionally.

It was probably about 7 or 8 years ago that I really made time for myself as the kids were getting older and I began scrapbooking more frequently.

WHAT COLOURS YOU ARE DRAWN TO –

I’m certainly more attracted to neutral colours and tones. I don’t think my layouts are very busy, I do like to keep them simple with usually only a couple of colours on a layout at the most. I’m not really a bright/colourful out there type of person and my layouts are very similar to my personality. I do love seeing bright busy layouts that other people do and but I just cant scrap like that. To some degree I think your layouts do match your personality, you should scrap what you like not what you think other people will like.

WHO INSPIRES YOU –

Call me crazy but I am more inspired by how people organise their scrap spaces than the layouts they do.

I love to see new ideas of organisation that I think will work well with my scrapping space. I will confess I do spend way too much time organising and rearranging my scrap space to make everything work better for me. I scrapbook better in a tidy organized space, and I always pack away all my embellishments and things I’ve used after I complete a layout so I can start a new layout in a clean workspace!!

My collection of flowers in containers and jars. The are sorted in style/type.

My Ikea trolley that goes everywhere with me. Sits perfectly on the backseat of my car (with seatbelt on) when I go to crops and retreats. I store most of my mixed media type stuff in it. Best purchase so far!!!!

 Another purchase well worth it. $10 containers from Bunnings. Each container is colour coded. I store washi tape, some flowers, brads, buttons, tags, ribbons, ephemera etc in theses containers. I also have some thinner containers that have ink pads, metal embellishments and flairs in them.

WHAT CRAFTING TOOL CANT YOU LIVE WITHOUT? –

I love to hand stitch on my layouts, I find it therapeutic to stitch at night while watching television. My Tim Holtz idea-ology ruler with the holes in it is perfect to have the right hole spacing and I love my pokey tool for putting the holes in my paper to stitch.

IF YOU COULD GO ON A RETREAT LOCATION ANYWHERE, WHERE WOULD YOU GO? –

Oh scrapbooking retreats are just the best. I don’t care where I go; it’s the company that makes retreats so much fun. I don’t get much sleep at retreats, I love to achieve as much as I can while I’m there. One thing I do love about retreats is that you don’t have to think about what you have to cook for each meal, you just scrap until the next meal is ready… can it get any better than that??
